Consumer Empowerment and Leadership Training (CELT)

MHAV’s flagship educational program, is three days of workshops designed to give mental health consumers important tools for successful leadership and the skills to make your voice heard, as well as re-integrate as a community leader and agent of change.

This is a commuter-style training.

Note for Certified Peer Recovery Specialists: 19 VCB-approved hours of continuing education credit will be awarded to Virginia Certified Peer Recovery Specialists after completion of CELT.

Facilitator Skills Training – Fredricksburg

Facilitator Skills Training allows working and aspiring peer support specialists to learn the art of facilitation. Through this training, participants will learn and develop the skills necessary to effectively facilitate and tailor a training to any audience. VCB-approved CEUs will be awarded to Virginia CPRS.

Advocacy and Recovery

We are advocating for a better mental health system, but our struggle may arise from a mental health or substance use issue, from domestic or sexual violence, or from any health condition or traumatic event that has carried with it public fear, misunderstanding, or judgment. Despite the differences underlying recovery from serious health challenges and recovery from victimization or abuse, there are many similarities, and often overlapping experiences.
