We are accepting applications for our Peer-Run Warm Line. If you are interested in becoming a Warm Line Operator, please select the link to the right "for more information and to apply".  PRS Supervision provided for those earning experience hours towards certification. There are a limited number of stipend funded positions for PRS interns.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are excited about your interest in volunteering or interning with Mental Health America of Virginia. Opportunities include:

Warm Line Operator (requires either certification as Peer Recovery Specialist or completion of the PRS training) - The Warm Line is currently open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. weekdays and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. weekends.

Outreach Volunteer - Helping staff our exhibit table at health fairs and community events. Could also help with distributing our program materials to health care facilities, clinics, housing programs, etc. Hours vary.

Office Volunteer - Helping compile materials for recovery education and outreach, entering program data in spreadsheets, general office assistance. As needed, generally 9 - 5 Monday-Friday.

Student Intern - MHAV does not provide direct clinical services, but we are able to provide graduate social work internships for students pursuing advocacy, policy and planning careers ("macro" placement). In addition, there may be opportunities for students in marketing, policy, communications, research, government or law related fields.
